Christmas

Each year at the beginning of December, the RSCA hosts their annual Christmas events. The day starts with a Pancake Breakfast with Santa, followed by a Toy Mountain Toy Parade, and finishes up with Evening Sleigh Rides!

The Pancake Breakfast with Santa includes a lovely breakfast of pancakes, sausages, and other yummies. Families can visit with Santa and get professional pictures taken and a small gift, and finish with a stop in the craft room.

Each year we hold a toy drive in support of the Salvation Army's Toy Mountain for less fortunate children in conjunction with our Christmas Events; the generosity of our neighbours has been truly wonderful. Over the years we have grown our contribution by collecting funds from local businesses (we call them our 'Toy Mountain Angels'), enlisting the help of local guiding and scouting groups, and in 2015 had Santa join us for our first ever Toy Mountain Toy Parade with resounding success...our contribution that year was 1150 toys! Each year we hope to continue to grow this endeavor!

At night, families can enjoy the twinkling lights of decorated houses in the neighbourhood on a horse-drawn wagon ride, often accompanied by spontaneous carol singing! While awaiting your sleigh, you can enjoy hot chocolate, snacks, cookie decorating and Christmas music inside.

Sports Tournaments

Throughout the year, the RSCA hosts various sports tournaments to encourage our adult and youth population to stay fit, have fun, and socialize with their neighbours. Our Pond Hockey Tournament is always a resounding success, the Soft Ball Tournament is so much fun and growing each year, and new in 2016 was our RSS Lifestyle 4-on-4 Road Hockey Showdown which met with an enthusiastic response!

Spring Festival

Each year the community participates in the City's Cleaning the Capital endeavor. Residents are encouraged to join their neighbours, say hello, and celebrate spring while cleaning up the community. In addition to providing everything you need to help keep our neighbourhood clean, we also have games, activities and food...fun for all! Plus, our local businesses get involved by registering teams, as well as providing prizes for participants!

Canada Day

The RSCA's flagship event is an annual Canada Day family fun day with a professional evening fireworks display on July 1st at Claudette Cain Park (beside the bridge)!

The daytime event boasts a wide array of activities, including inflatable rides, stage shows, a petting zoo and pony rides, a miniature train ride, miniature golf, a BBQ, cotton candy, balloons, ice cream, and so much more...and it is growing every year!

Come enjoy a fantastic day at the park, have a picnic, and join your neighbours in celebrating the birthday of our wonderful country!

The evening event includes entertainment, music, and glow product sales to entertain onlookers before an absolutely spectacular professional fireworks display!

This phenomenal picture is from our 2015 fireworks!

This event garners a lot of support from our wonderful local businesses through sponsorship, which allows us put on a phenomenal event while keeping prices for kid's fun passes and the BBQ at an extremely reasonable level for our families!

Volunteers needed

We are always looking for more people to get involved with the RSCA. Everything from contributing a few hours to an event, helping to maintain a puddle rink for skating enthusiasts, to stepping into a current role on the executive or identifying a need in the community and approaching us for support. We need our neighbours stepping up, and since volunteering with the RSCA counts towards a student's mandatory hours, we encourage your teenagers to get involved too!

Business Directory & Advertising

The RSCA encourages a thriving small business network by including a business directory on our website. This gives residents an opportunity to keep business in the neighbourhood! For a small annual fee, local business owners can promote their business on the directory, which includes options such as photos, links, coupons, and the ability for customers to review the service!

We also sell banner ads on our popular website to further promote your business

Sponsorship

Local businesses have several opportunities to promote their business while supporting the community through sponsorship. Some of these opportunities include supporting our large Canada Day family fun day and evening Fireworks, supporting our Pancake Breakfast with Santa and Evening Sleigh Rides or becoming a Toy Mountain Angel at Christmas, getting involved in one of our annual sporting tournaments or the Spring Festival, and so much more. The RSCA enjoys supporting our local business owners and becoming an RSCA sponsor provides us with opportunities to help nurture your business!
